Air Quality Index for Horses

Air Quality Index for Horses

We are in the middle of fire season, a common question of horse owners/students is what is the appropriate amount of work for my horse when the air is filled with smoke. Horses can be sensitive to smoke, so it is very important to pay attention to the air quality and not overwork/exert the horse when air quality is low. We also need to keep in mind our own health/safety, when in question I visit: https://svc.mt.gov/deq/todaysair/

We cancel all lessons/camps/clinics when we are in the red, and if in the orange we take very careful consideration into what activities we do with our horses and keep them at a walk.

Stay well!
